Excellent stuff Nik.

Works like a dream for certain sites that allow 'uncontrolled' ads and services.
At least it gives plenty of options to tailor it to your own individual needs.

I have subsequently found out that, without going into great detail, it is not really possible to target a particular ad or ads on a site that you trust.
For example:
Here on this site, for me anyway, LiveJasmin and i2.ytimg are a veritable pain in the ass, as they take forever to 'do their thing' and slow things down.
It is so bad at times, that the only way I can post is by using the 'go advanced' option, without this, this post alone would take at least 5mins to type out.

Amazing how I never even looked at Firefox addons. Didn't even occur to me.

I fucked around with noscript for a while.



What it does it only targets scripts written in java. Kinda useless for a php based forum.

I didn't mind them too much but if a person has kids or others that may be offended.. you can now visit the site without that worry.

Yes indeed.
I mentioned it in a pm to Incog a while back. He was aware of it himself and is/was working on it.
However, I think he is 'between a rock and a hard place', as the saying goes, as he has to generate some income. Choices are limited.

It got quite bad for me though.
I am a 'two fingered typer' and I have to look at the keyboard as I type. When I looked up at what I knew I typed for spelling and such, there were letters missing, whole words missing, spaces missing - you name it !!
That's why I mentioned posting by 'going advanced', it cuts out ads when you type.
Live Jasmin is the main culprit for me, with i2.ytimg a very close second.

This filter has proved to be beneficial on other sites, LiveLeak for example.

Absolutely.
It wasn't just this site I've had a problem with.

I can understand a need for Admin to generate cash. It keeps it from being a pay site.
Shame though that the ad companies would make their product so invasive that it makes problems like that.

Btw, on ad block you can customize the filters. add new ones etc.

Right click on the "stop sign" in the upper right hand corner, then preferences, then filters, then "add filter subscription".
