Closest to "Sims" I ever get is Sid Meirs Sim City series. Absolutely brilliant. Still give it a play now and then.

I never played them but I am familiar. Look like very interesting games. I'd imagine they are very time consuming too.

No. American. You create these little dudes and basically just keep them alive and in good humour by keeping them well rested, fed, entertained etc. and by building a nice house for them.

And in the game Stonkin is referring to you have to build and manage an entire city.
